Lymphoma Living with Lymphoma

Sometimes the most stressful period for people with cancer occurs when treatments end

There are many difficult aspects of cancer treatment, including getting to therapy appointments, recovering from painful procedures and coping with often-unpleasant treatment side effects. However, for some people who have had cancer, the most emotionally stressful time occurs after treatment is over. This is a time when people have to resume their lives while facing an uncertain future. Experts say that many people feel more in control when they are actively fighting the disease. In addition, some people feel the loss of a support system when they are no longer receiving the attention and comfort from their team of specialists. And family members often don’t understand why the person isn’t simply relieved. People with cancer are encouraged to seek out others by joining a support group to give them ongoing encouragement and a place where they can address their concerns.
